The Input survey was undertaken voluntarily by members of our community. While it provides valuable feedback it is not statistically valid. The Insights Survey which was conducted by phone, has a representation from within our community that is mirrored by demographic data in our community profile, Remplan, Australian Bureau of Statistics 2021.

Phone survey: No, the numbers were a unique sample of mobile numbers across the Local Government Area.

Online survey: No, the IP addresses were analysed and cleaned. We did identify some IP addresses were duplicated but the respondent details were deemed satisfactory due to the difference in answers, so it is likely they were either members of a household or workplace.

Both survey's: Each survey took around 20 minutes to complete. While it is possible to complete an online survey and answer questions during the telephone survey we believe the risk is very small.

Both results are unique, which is why we chose to do the statistically valid phone and an opt-in online survey.

The phone survey is statistically valid because it represents the demographic profile of 2021 Australian Bureau of Statistics data and is the preferred sample size for the population of the Local Government Area. This is important if we are looking at data that reflects our community.

Participating in the online survey will provide us with more anecdotal data, it will represent members of our community who have specific feedback on matters that are important to them. This data will support further understanding in areas of need or overwhelming satisfaction.

We engaged an independent researcher so community could have the confidence to be open and honest. If participants were talking to staff from Council, we believe the good, bad and ugly may have been diluted.
