Overview

The pavement at the Tamworth Street and Darling Street Dubbo roundabout has reached the end of its service life, showing significant signs of wear, such as shoving, heaving, and general pavement failure. Additionally, the water mains beneath the roundabout, which are approximately 100 years old, are nearing the end of their functional lifespan.

In response to these issues, Dubbo Regional Council will be conducting critical roadworks at this intersection. The upgrades aim to restore and improve road infrastructure, benefiting the entire community.

The project will be completed in two stages, starting on 8 October 2024.

  • Stage 1: Expected to last six weeks.
  • Stage 2: Will begin following Stage 1. A Courtesy Notice was sent to impacted and neighbouring residents on 7 November 2024. Works are expected to last 5 weeks.

Stage 2

Stage 2 | Roundabout Reconstruction Works

Stage 2 involves the complete reconstruction of the roundabout, including:

  • Pavement replacement
  • Central island reconstruction
  • Upgrades to the roundabout approaches
  • Reconstruction of traffic islands
  • Installation of new line markings
  • Installation of updated traffic signs

Proposed Start Date: 18 November 2024, weather permitting

Stage 1

Stage 1 | Stormwater Rectification Works

Stage 1 of the project focuses on rectifying stormwater drainage issues at the roundabout. The work includes:

  • Removal of the existing stormwater network
  • Installation of new stormwater infrastructure, including pits, lintels, and pipes, to improve drainage at the site

Duration: 6 weeks, commencing 8 October 2024

The work will involve road closures and detours in three segments, with approximate durations as follows:

  • Segment 1: Approximately 3 weeks
  • Segment 2: Approximately 1 week
  • Segment 3: Approximately 2 weeks

A pedestrian management plan is in place to manage footpath access. Pedestrians can detour around the roundabout using the ramps to support mobility accessibility.

Please refer to the map below for the exact locations of these closures. Simply click the icon’s of each segment to find out more about the traffic restrictions and detours.
