Engagement Snapshot

Here is an overview of all the activities involving community for the purpose of participation.

Overview

We are aiming to improve pavement drainage, which will in turn enable us to undertake essential road reconstruction works on Tamworth Street in the coming months.

We understand these works will have direct impacts on road users, nearby residents, businesses and pedestrians and have scheduled these works with an intent to minimise disruptions within the local community.

As each stage is reliant upon the overall delivery of the previous stage, we will inform and consult directly impacted stakeholders & residents leading into each stage once a full scope of works have been fully developed.

*Please be mindful of temporary signage while works are underway to keep all road users and workers safe. Adverse weather can delay any scheduled works.

In this stage, pavement reconstruction work will be carried out on Tamworth Street as well as the roundabout on Sterling Street. We anticipate that the reconstruction works will take up-to 13 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

As part of our commitment to minimising disruptions to local businesses and residents, stage two has been strategically planned across seven sections and will include night works with final details still to be confirmed.

We also wish to inform residents that there will be some noise as a result of the works. We will endeavour to minimise disturbance to residents.

Prior to the commencement of staged works, courtesy notices will be sent directly to businesses and residents directly affected.

COMPLETED | Subsoil Drainage

Click on the icons within the below map for information regarding reduced parking access, proposed detours and traffic control.

Overview: Stage 1 involves the installation of subsoil drainage to alleviate the saturated subgrade conditions and to intercept the excessive water content found in the pavement.

This work is aimed at improving pavement drainage, which will in turn enable Council to undertake essential road reconstruction works of Tamworth Street in STAGE 2.

At this stage, works are planned to be conducted as night work between the hours of 6:00 PM in the evening to 4:00 AM in the morning. The works will be undertaken in small sequential stages moving along Tamworth Street until the job is finished.

The aim of this approach is to minimise disruptions to the roadway, footpath, and pedestrian access, and to ensure that the road can be reopened the following day.

Duration: Approximately 2 Weeks, weather permitting.

Traffic Control Plan : During this period, and between the hours of 6:00 PM in the evening to 4:00 AM in the morning, there will be lane closure and detours in effect on Tamworth Street, Sterling Street, and Jubilee Street in 4 phases. These streets will be re-opened to traffic at the conclusion of each shift. These travel lane closures will be required progressively at Tamworth Street, Sterling Street, and Jubilee Street.

*Specific time to be confirmed, business and residents will be notified before each phase's road work commenced.

During this stage, community can expect the following:

Weeknights 6pm to 4am

  • Restricted parking
  • Noise associated with the works
  • Resident only access from Hutchins Avenue for Sterling & Jubilee Street, for certain days during the stage.
  • Restricted (phased) driveway access, for residents along areas of Tamworth Street.

Tamworth Shopping Centre

  • Traffic congestion during evening peak visitation
  • At times parking may be reduced
  • Footpaths remain accessible
  • A spotter can assist with road crossings at the pedestrian refuge if required.

Please adhere to detours, all measures in place have been designed to reduce impact to residents and business so we ask for your patience during this time.
