This review was called for in a resolution from Council (CSC22/10) following the creation community committees, working parties, forums and panels in 2022. Recommendation 3. calls for a report to be provided to Council in October 2023.
The review will undertake the following work;
- Data collection (surveys, interviews and the workshops) regarding the effectiveness and sustainability of community committees in their current format.
- Assessment of the data.
- Development of recommendations on the future framework of “community committees, working parties, forums and panels” at Council for the new Mayoral Term, in line with Council’s (draft/adopted) Engagement Strategy.
Note: the Engagement Strategy is proposed to be adopted in September/October 2023.
The review will seek to identify a framework for the provision and administration of community committees that;
- Meets the needs of the Council and Community
- Aligns to Council’s Engagement Strategy
- Establishes a best practice model for how meetings are administered and held
- Ensures alignment to the Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program and Operational Plan
- Ensures that monitoring and reporting is undertaken with the lens of continuous improvement
