Have your say on the Public Art Strategy

16 October 2023

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) invites the community to have their say on the proposed Public Art Strategy that is now on public exhibition.

The strategy was developed with input from the community, cultural and arts organizations, as well as Council staff as part of the 2022-2025 SPARC Cultural Plan. DRC engaged public art and urban planning consultants, ArtScape to undertake the planning, consultation, design and development of the Public Art Strategy.

The Public Art Strategy aims to support Council’s 2040 Community Strategic Plan to promote and maintain the diversity of the region’s heritage, cultural services and facilities.

The Public Art Strategy also proposes to establish a Public Art Advisory Panel that can provide recommendations for consideration by Council regarding major public works undertaken by Council or on council land or facilities. This panel would also offer expert knowledge and insights for recommendations to help guide privately undertaken public art projects to best align with the interests of the community and the wider region.

Feedback on the proposed Public Art Strategy is invited until 5pm, Monday 6 November 2023 at the project page. Following the public exhibition period a report will be provided to the December Ordinary Council meeting for consideration.
