Dubbo Regional Council is working in partnership with the NSW Government and local property developers to fast track growth in North West Dubbo.

Council will undertake further strategic planning work to ensure future development is appropriate for local conditions and meets the community's expectations. This involves planning for essential infrastructure in the north west area, and ensuring suitable measures are in place to guide the form, structure and layout of development.

The community will have further opportunities to comment as the work progresses.

Dubbo Regional Council proposes to launch My DRCWater App for customers to monitor water consumption.

The new My DRCWater mobile phone app will allow customers with a smart water device installed at their property to monitor and manage water consumption.

The free app will monitor water usage at any time and provide daily, weekly or monthly reports, set alerts for potential water leaks or high use via email or SMS and track trends and inconsistencies for your property.

To date customers have only been able to access this information via a login on a desktop computer. This app will provide greater accessibility to your water consumption information.

The app will be available for both iPhone and Android and is expected to be available in the coming months.

Council has engaged industry consultants Delos Delta to understand the dynamics of short-term worker accommodation across the region.

Understanding the nature, demand and opportunities for short-term worker accommodation is important to ensure policy and planning resources are adequately addressed.

Options were identified in the report which are aimed at assisting Council in policy and other initiatives Council can undertake to ensure Region can both capitalise from the pulse of investment and to ensure housing availability is not further unreasonably impacted.

Dubbo Regional Council proposes to undertake an optimisation study of the John Gilbert Water Treatment Plant.

Council has engaged an external consultant to undertake an optimisation study of the John Gilbert Water Treatment Plant with the intention to identify short, medium and long-term priorities for capital works projects. The study will also perform assessments and subsequent scoring of the facility from a public health compliance and environmental compliance perspective. It will look at opportunities to value-add through the combining of tasks and to identify future proofing options.

The aim of the project is to future proof the John Gilbert Water Treatment Plant and proactively understand how Council can get the most out of the facility to be more resilient and adapt with the changing climate, river conditions and growing population.
