Overview

Our roads are essential for keeping our community connected and maintaining them ensures safer and smoother travel for everyone.

Council’s Annual Road Reseal Program is undertaken during the hot weather months, between November and April. This program helps protect and extend the life of our roads by applying a fresh layer of bitumen and crushed aggregate to existing surfaces.

Why This Matters for Our Community:

Safer Roads for Everyone – Regular resurfacing improves road conditions, reducing hazards for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Stronger, Longer-Lasting Roads – A well-maintained road network means fewer costly repairs in the long run and better infrastructure for years to come.

Prevention of Damage – A fresh seal prevents moisture from seeping in, reducing the risk of potholes and road deterioration. Moisture can lead to significant damage and eventually cases a complete road failure. Regular resurfacing mitigates this risk and maintains the durability of the road.

Each year, roads are assessed and prioritised to ensure we focus on the areas that need it most.

While weather and resource availability can impact the schedule, any roads that aren’t completed will be carried over to the following program or included in future planned works.

2023/2024 Road Reseal Program

Dubbo Regional Council undertook its annual bitumen resealing program on urban and rural sealed road networks across Dubbo and Wellington. The program commenced in late November 2023 and was completed in late 2024. Road resealing is a critical infrastructure program aimed at improving and extending the life of the road network.

Residents living or traveling along the roads earmarked for resealing experienced minimal disruptions during the works. Traffic management, including stop-and-go controls, was in place for the duration.
