Dubbo | Elston Park Water Park Renewal

Overview

Originally opened in 2006, Elston Park Water Park is set to receive a major refresh. The revitalisation will feature vibrant new colours and inclusive water play elements designed for visitors of all ages and abilities.

The upgrade will also include essential infrastructure improvements:

Replacement of the existing balance tank
Construction of a new plant room to enhance pump performance and boost water and energy efficiency
Installation of an upgraded remote monitoring system
Replacement of shade sails
Resurfacing of the concrete base with an approved anti-slip coating.

The facility has already closed for the autumn/winter period, with works scheduled to begin on 14 July 2025. A grand reopening is expected in early December, just in time for summer fun.

Council endorsed

As part of Council’s Asset Renewal Plan the Elston Park Water Park was identified as approaching its useful life expectancy. To ensure that this free family orientated facility remained available to the public, funding for this project was identified over two financial years (2024/2025 and 2025/2026).

Tender released

Water Play Solutions Pty Ltd was awarded the contract for the renewal for the tendered price of $499,950.00 inc GST.
Timeline item 3 - active

Water play area closure

The Water Park area is currently closed for the winter shutdown period. This shut down period will be extended through to early December for construction of the new water play area.
Timeline item 4 - incomplete

Project commences

The new water play equipment and plant room have already been ordered due to manufacturing and shipping timelines. On ground works are scheduled to commence 14 July 2025.
During these works the playground, amenities and BBQs will still be available. The community will be kept advised if there are any disruptions to these facilities during the works.

Project complete

The estimated completion date of the water play area is early December 2025.
A formal opening will be organised. Further details to follow.
