There will be two separate Australia Day Award Ceremony events, one event will be held in Dubbo and the other held in Wellington.

Event details for Dubbo and Wellington will be available late 2025.

The Australia Day Ceremony will consist of formal flag raising, an award presentation, a citizenship ceremony, and a community event.

The award presentation celebrates outstanding citizens for their achievements throughout the year or their long-term service to the local community.

The award categories are:

• Citizen of the Year
• Senior Citizen of the Year
• Young Citizen of the Year
• Services to Sport
• Sports Person of the Year
• Young Sports Person of the Year
• Services to The Arts (Dubbo only)
• Community Group of the Year (Dubbo only)
• Community Event of the Year (Wellington only).

The citizenship ceremony marks the final step to becoming an Australian Citizen, fulfilling all legal requirements.

The community event will feature entertainment and activities. Your invited to share your ideas for the types of activities you would like to see.

The survey will be open from Monday 19 May 2025 and will close on Tuesday 10 June 2025.

The results will then be reviewed, analysed and a report will be presented to the Ordinary Council meeting in July 2025 for a recommendation for Council to determine.
