Further resurfacing to be undertaken
After successfully completing the project in accordance with the original funding deed there were unexpended funds remaining. The proposed timeline for the commencement of the works is late April to early May 2024. Council will inform the stakeholders and the community of the upcoming works to minimise disruptions.Overview
The Nita McGrath Courts have undergone a series of works leading into the 2023 Netball season after securing funding from NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund round 4. The grant funding of $500,000 was secured to address the cracking of playing surfaces and to upgrade the courts with an installation of rubber under surface to reduce shock injuries.
The following scope of works are included.
- Filling in cracks and levelling out low spots on 6 of the courts
- Installation of 10mm rubber undersurface
- and line marking
The Nita McGrath Netball courts see over 1,200 participants of varying ages utilise these facilities every weekend over the winter months alongside Primary School Sport Association, Netball NSW, School sports carnivals and other competitions through netball associations and social groups.
Project Delivery Update
The project had initially intended to repair seven courts, but Council were able to stretch the funds to include another taking the total to eight courts resurfaced.
